The couple claims the restaurant penalized them for ‘bad parenting,’ but the restaurant owner exposes the reality

Imagine enjoying a wonderful meal at a restaurant after a long and exhausting day, and while the parents seem as though nothing is wrong, a child starts to act up or decides it’s okay to run around and move from table to table. I suppose we’ve all been there.

The Toccoa Riverside Restaurant, a well-known eatery in a picturesque setting nestled in the mountains and perched along the Toccoa River, decided to impose a surcharge for “adults unable to parent” because they had had enough of parents failing to discipline their children while other patrons enjoyed their meal. The menu now includes a caution at the bottom.

It goes without saying that most parents are not satisfied with this choice.

Although the menu does not specify a price, multiple Google reviews indicate that parents must pay approximately $50.

“The proprietor emerged and informed me that my children’s actions would result in a $50 increase on my bill.” My wife brought my kids outside while I waited and paid the bill, and my kids watched a tablet till the food arrived and they ate it. “Disappointed with the experience,” a user commented.

“You should definitely stay away from this place at all costs if you have kids. We were advised to “go to Burger King and Walmart” and that we were poor parents because our kids were “running through the restaurant” and playing by the river. Holy moly, the most rude owner made a big deal out of it in front of the entire restaurant, according to another review.

In response, Tim Richter, the proprietor of the eatery, stated that he initiated the surcharge several years prior during the COVID-19 pandemic after a family with nine children dined there. The kids were allegedly “running all over the restaurant.” Richard offered them a warning instead of charging them.

He declared, “We want parents to be parents.”

A guest named Laura Spillman was shocked and exclaimed, “That is crazy.” For real? You shouldn’t do it, in my opinion, just because kids are adorable. However, another guest, Anne Cox, thought that a possible fee may be helpful in reminding parents of their duties.
