The image appears to show small aquatic larvae in standing water inside a toilet bowl. These are commonly known as mosquito larvae, the early life stage of a Mosquito. When mosquito eggs hatch, the larvae live in still water until they develop into adult mosquitoes.

Why this can happen

Mosquitoes lay eggs in stagnant or rarely used water. If a bathroom fixture—such as a toilet, drain, or tank—is not flushed or cleaned regularly, it can provide a temporary breeding place. In warm environments, the life cycle can be quick:

  1. Eggs are laid on or near water

  2. Larvae hatch and live in the water

  3. They develop into pupae

  4. Adult mosquitoes emerge

This process can take about 7–14 days depending on temperature and conditions.

Common signs of mosquito larvae in water

  • Small worm-like creatures that wiggle when disturbed

  • Clusters of larvae near the water surface

  • Water that has remained still for several days

What to do

  • Flush the toilet several times to remove the larvae

  • Clean the bowl and tank with disinfectant

  • Ensure bathrooms or drains are used or flushed regularly

  • Remove any other sources of standing water nearby

Situations like this are not a sign of something “growing inside a person”, as some viral posts claim. Instead, they usually indicate that insects found a place with still water where they could lay eggs.

Regular cleaning and preventing stagnant water is usually enough to stop it. 🧼🚿
