“Special Delivery”
I stood outside my own house, disguised in a pizza delivery uniform, gripping the box tightly. My heart pounded in my chest, a mixture of rage and anticipation bubbling inside me.
I had worked so hard, making sacrifices to provide for our family, while my husband, Jake, stayed home. I never questioned it—until I noticed the recurring pizza orders on our account, always placed minutes after I left for work.
Curious, I checked the delivery notes. **“Ring twice. Don’t knock. Bring extra napkins.”**
Something in my gut told me to dig deeper. So I did. I called the pizza place, pretended to be my husband’s sister, and sweet-talked the worker into confirming the orders. **Two pizzas, every Wednesday and Friday, like clockwork. Always when I was gone.**
And then I saw the name on the order: **”For Jake & M.”**
M.
I knew an *M.*
A woman who, up until this moment, I had considered a *friend.*
So, I hatched a plan.
Dressed as a delivery person, helmet obscuring my face, I rang the doorbell. Twice.
Jake answered the door, grinning. “Wow, that was fast,” he chuckled, handing me a twenty without a second glance.
And then—she appeared behind him.
*Megan.*
I froze. My fingers clenched around the pizza box.
“Oh, babe, you didn’t have to tip so much,” Megan giggled, wrapping her arms around *my husband’s* waist.
The rage inside me turned to ice.
I reached up and yanked off my helmet.
Jake’s face drained of color. Megan gasped, her smile vanishing.
“Go ahead,” I said, voice eerily calm. “Open the box.”
With shaking hands, Jake lifted the lid.
Inside, instead of pizza, were **printed screenshots of their text messages, photos of them together, and a crisp envelope labeled ‘DIVORCE PAPERS.’**
Jake staggered back. “I-I can explain—”
I snatched the twenty from his hand and stuffed it into my pocket.
“Consider that *your* tip,” I smirked, stepping back.
Then, I turned to Megan.
“Hope the pizza was worth it, *M.*”
And with that, I walked away—leaving them standing there, stunned, as their dirty little secret crumbled before them.
