People were caught off guard by the ‘surreal’ moment during Donald Trump’s victory speech.

Viewers who tuned in to Donald Trump’s victory speech after winning the U.S. presidential election were left puzzled by a ‘surreal’ moment involving the 78-year-old.

Yes, it may seem like a blast from the past, but Donald J. Trump is once again president.

After months of campaigning, the Republican candidate triumphed over Vice President Kamala Harris in the race for the White House, securing his position as the 47th president of the United States.

As expected, the cameras were focused on Trump when he took the stage in Florida to declare his victory and vow to lead America into a ‘golden age’—or at least his version of one.

Given Trump’s flair for showmanship—after all, he’s the only president to have made regular appearances in WWE—it’s no surprise that his victory speech featured a celebrity shoutout.

Enter pro golfer Bryson DeChambeau.

The moment took a strange turn when Trump praised the ‘fantastic’ U.S. Open champion and asked if DeChambeau was in the building. To the surprise of many, the golfer appeared on stage wearing a black ‘Make America Great Again’ hat as Trump lauded his ‘great career’ in the sport.

DeChambeau, 31, wasn’t the only celebrity to make a surprise appearance that night—UFC president Dana White also showed up—but this particular moment seemed to be the tipping point for many viewers watching the spectacle unfold.

One person on social media summed it up: “Donald Trump shouting out Bryson DeChambeau at his victory party is as surreal as it gets!”

“I did NOT have ‘Trump congratulates Bryson Dechambeau on his US Open win (checks watch…from 5 MONTHS ago) during his acceptance speech’ on my Bingo card,” a second person joked, while a third added: “One Bryson DeChambeau definitely was NOT JUMPING up for appearing on stage and having his reputation once again get roasted again.”

As strange as the moment appeared, those familiar with the ins and outs of U.S. politics might recall that Trump and DeChambeau share a bit of history—they’ve actually played golf together before.

Back in July, DeChambeau posted a video on his YouTube channel titled “Can I Break 50 With President Donald Trump?” which quickly went viral.

The video also put to rest the long-standing debate about whether or not the president-elect is any good at golf (and, unfortunately, the answer is yes, he is).
