But one night, I got this message from some girl I didn’t recognize. Her profile pic looked familiar. Curiosity got the best of me, so I opened it.
And there it was — a photo of a woman’s hand with the EXACT same engagement ring Rob gave me! The message said:
“Glad you loved it, Rob ordered it to make it custom for me! Sometimes I even regret returning it…”
It was from Rob’s ex, Emily. My heart SANK. He proposed to me with the ring that was meant for another woman!
For a moment, I didn’t know what to do. But then, I took a deep breath and decided: he won’t get away with this.
In the next weeks, I put on my best Oscar-winning performance, acting like the perfect bride-to-be, and planned my revenge.
On the wedding day, I looked stunning in my white dress. Everyone was settling into their seats, completely clueless about the drama about to go down. As the music started, Rob stood at the altar, all proud and happy. He had no idea what was coming. The doors opened, and everyone GASPED. The crowd gasped, and Rob’s parents looked mortified. “This ring,” I continued, holding it up, “was supposed to symbolize our love, our unique bond. But it was nothing more than a secondhand promise.”
Rob tried to stammer out an explanation, but I was done listening. “You can keep your ring, Rob,” I said, removing it and placing it on the altar. “And maybe next time, you’ll think twice before treating another woman like an afterthought.”
With that, I took Emily’s hand, and we walked out together, leaving the stunned guests and a humiliated Rob behind. The feeling of liberation was exhilarating.
Outside the venue, Emily and I burst into laughter. “You were amazing,” she said, hugging me. “I’m so glad we did this.”
