Former President Donald Trump was rushed off the stage after a fatal shooting at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday evening. One attendee and the shooter were killed, according to the Butler County district attorney.
Screams erupted from the crowd, which scrambled for cover. The Secret Service confirmed “an incident” and that Trump “is safe,” according to a spokesperson on X. Steven Cheung, a Trump spokesperson, said the former president was being examined nearby.

“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,” Cheung stated. “He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.”
Amid the chaos, several shots were heard before Trump put his hand to his ear. Secret Service agents rushed to protect him, ordering him to get down. He remained on the ground for about a minute, then stood up with agent support, appearing injured with blood on his face. Trump gave a fist pump as he was ushered off the stage and into an SUV.
Dave McCormick, the Republican Senate nominee for Pennsylvania, said someone behind him appeared to be shot. Slippery Rock Mayor Jondavid Longo described the scene, noting Trump’s defiant fist gesture.
