If you haven’t guessed by now, it’s about laundry. Laundry has been done for thousands of years, yet the methods have evolved as the millennia progressed.

Many years ago, folks would bring their soiled clothing down to the river and beat them on a rock. Nowadays, you can throw them in a machine and have them done in an hour or less.

The intriguing little apparatus seen in these images makes it easier for people to do their laundry. Considering all of the many processes that are required during the process, including transporting the water, boiling it, washing, rinsing, wringing the clothing out, and drying, it was a lengthy process.
