COACH GOES VIRAL ONLINE FOR THIS ONE ACT OF KINDNESS DURING CHILDREN’S BASKETBALL GAME

Teachers are the least paid members of society, yet they are among the most essential ones.

It is a unique breed of person to devote their lives to teaching, counseling, and mentoring the next generation.

There are many examples of teachers going above and beyond to assist their students.

For example, Jonathan Oliver, a physical education teacher at WG Nunn Elementary School in Valdosta, Georgia, was recently honored for an altruistic gesture he made while supervising a kindergarten basketball game.

If a student requested for help, he would be pleased to help them.

When Kristen Paulk needed help pulling her hair up in a ponytail, Oliver, her kindergarten basketball coach, stepped in to help.

Oliver bent down to Kristen’s level on a basketball, seeming attentive as he tugged her locks off her eyes. But he had no idea that he was being videotaped.

One of the primary school teachers, Kandice Anderson, caught the coach’s considerate gesture on tape. After that, she uploaded the video on YouTube, where it received a ton of encouraging comments.

“When your job goes beyond teaching!” was the headline of the film, which went viral very fast.

The 34-year-old father of three was contacted by Good Morning America after the video appeared there.

Oliver said on Good Morning America, “It was shocking to me that it got that much attention because we all do it,” and he was unaware that he was being videotaped.

He said, “We [teachers] want them to feel like they’re at home and that they enjoy being here.” We do our best to lavish them with affection. In my opinion, it was just a ponytail.”

Kristen had asked him to help arrange her hair into a ponytail for a basketball game, and although he regularly does that for his daughter, the overly protective father admitted that he was clueless about what else to do.

It was fortunate that she requested a ponytail. He laughed, “If there’s anything else, I’d say, ‘You better ask your mom.’”

Kristen’s mother, Miyah Cleckley, told the outlet that she was extremely affected by the footage and that she always knew her daughter was in capable hands with him. “I’m always certain that Kristen is with an excellent man. The fact that her father frequently does their hair made me think it was quite adorable. With five daughters and one boy, he must take up the responsibility of fixing their hair while I’m at work.

This is just one of many instances where teachers go above and beyond for their students. Yes, they are heroes.
