After several unsuccessful attempts to get pregnant, the couple lost all hope, thinking that they were destined to become just an uncle and aunt. But one day an unexpected call changed their lives for the better.
Parental joy is precious, but at the same time it is rare, and many couples dream of becoming parents all their lives. And that’s where parenting and adoption come to the rescue, which become a beacon of light and give people a chance to start their own family.
Adoption is always an option, and non-traditional families are just as wonderful as traditional ones. The story of Sadie and Jarvis Sampson proves that love is the only force that unites people.
We miss the family trip
It all started when the Sampsons missed a four-day family cruise in Mexico because they were tired at work. Sadie got a new job two weeks before, and her husband a few weeks before that.
Before returning, Sadie remembered that she had forgotten to take her younger sister’s life jacket. So she stopped by her house, took her sister’s jacket and decided to leave it with her aunt, since she was also going on a cruise.
On the way, she received a message from her best friend. She asked if Sadie and Jarvis would like to adopt a child. Sadie hesitated, thinking it would be an expensive option, like IVF. However, her friend had something to share.
Struggling to become parents
“Well, my friend and her boyfriend are thinking about taking their son into foster care. I told them that I thought you guys would be great for each other,” Sadie’s friend replied. The Sampsons were well acquainted with the desire to become parents.
The woman was accused of being called a “kidnapper” and granting privileges to white children, as well as of preferring adoption.
The couple actively tried to get pregnant after their wedding in January 2018. They tried everything from ovulation tests and pregnancy vitamins to cycle tracking apps and fertility monitors. Unfortunately, nothing helped.
An unexpected call
After numerous negative pregnancy tests, they sought medical help. “Lose weight and you’ll get pregnant right away,” said all the doctors Sadie went to. In February 2019, Sadie underwent gastric bypass surgery and lost 28 pounds in the first month.
But despite numerous visits to an obstetrician-gynecologist and fertility specialists, the Sampsons were never able to get pregnant. In the end, they gave up, deciding that they were just an uncle and an aunt. Sadie’s friend contacted her again a week later, and then the social worker.
The social worker told Sadie that the biological mother asked if they would like to take the child into care for six to twelve months while she was undergoing treatment. The Sampsons were afraid to get attached to the child, but agreed to take him in.
Becoming parents overnight
Shortly after, the social worker called again and told the couple that the biological mother wanted them to adopt the child. Sadie and Jarvis were stunned. They had no children, they took them in for upbringing and became parents overnight.
Then the Sampsons learned that the child’s biological parents wanted to achieve an independent adoption. Therefore, they called their lawyer and quickly completed all the necessary documents. Then Sadie decided to break the good news to her mom.
“YOU’RE GOING TO BE A GRANDMOTHER! We got a call about a two-week-old baby we’re adopting!” cried Sadie. She heard her mother jump up joyfully. After the biological parents signed the documents, Sadie and Jarvis went to meet their child.
