Matt Leblanc made the important decision to leave his career in order to focus on his daughter, who struggled with health problems as a child. Since then, she has overcome her difficulties and is now doing well as a young woman. Is it interesting to see how she grew up? Check out her latest photos!
Matt Leblanc, best known for his role in the movie “Friends,” is raising a child together with his ex-wife Melissa McKnight. The couple married in May 2003, and in February 2004, their daughter Marina Pearl Leblanc was born. She was born in a serious condition, but over time her health has improved significantly.
At an early age, Marina faced serious problems when doctors diagnosed her with cortical dysplasia, a disease that affects the brain, bones and motor skills. People with this disease often have difficulty walking and are prone to seizures.
When Marina was just 11 months old, doctors diagnosed her and warned that the disease had also affected her vocal cords, which could potentially affect her ability to speak. At the same time, Matt’s marriage to British model Melissa broke up amid rumors of infidelity. However, he was most concerned about his daughter’s illness.
One day, he shared: “My daughter was diagnosed with head problems. It was a very difficult period. But I got over it. Don’t they say that what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger?”
Matt focused all his energy on Marina during this difficult period. For the first time, he noticed that something was wrong when she began to fall on her left side when she was crawling.
In addition to the stress caused by the diagnosis, the babysitter told the story to the press, which compounded Matt’s difficulties. “We had a babysitter who told the newspapers a story about my daughter. It was a very dark period,” the father of one of them admitted in an interview in January 2011.
Despite the chaos that reigned in his life at that time, the TV star set himself the task of paying more attention to his daughter, suspending his career. “I was so exhausted after Joey that I just didn’t want to work,” Matt explained of the spin-off series Friends, which was shut down after just two seasons.
