Malia Ann Obama was born on July 4, 1998 and received her middle name in honor of Barack’s mother, who died in 1995 from ovarian cancer at the age of 52. After Maria grew up the daughter of the president and graduated from Harvard, she decided to pursue a career as a screenwriter.
