Malia Obama, the daughter of former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, recently presented her directorial debut “Heart” at the Sundance Film Festival, choosing the role of Malia Ann.
Malia Ann Obama was born on July 4, 1998 and received her middle name in honor of Barack’s mother, who died in 1995 from ovarian cancer at the age of 52. After Maria grew up the daughter of the president and graduated from Harvard, she decided to pursue a career as a screenwriter.
In her latest film “The Heart”, where Maria acts as a director and screenwriter, she chose her stage name Malia Ann. Earlier this month, she appeared on the red carpet of the Sundance Film Festival in 2024 at the premiere of the film.
Malia’s path into the film industry began with her role in the writing team of the series “Roy”, which premiered on Amazon Prime in 2021. With Billy Eilish and Rory Culkin in the cast, “Roy” marked a promising start to her career.
