In the morning, Robert stepped outside, savoring his everyday routine in peace and quiet. The spring air was crisp, and he settled into his rickety chair as usual, a cup of steaming coffee in hand. But something was different. Lucky, his old loyal dog, began sniffing around the boxes in the front yard. Suddenly, he started barking at Robert.<\/p>\n

Finally realizing who she was, he shockingly exclaimed, “OH GOOD LORD!”<\/p>\n

Robert’s heart ached at the sight of her, memories flooding back to him in a rush. He remembered her as a bright-eyed child, full of curiosity and innocence. But now, she looked tired and worn, her clothes ragged and dirty.<\/p>\n
Without a second thought, Robert reached out a hand to help her up. “Come inside, sweetheart,” he said softly. “You’re safe now.”<\/p>\n
