Firefighter Michael Altman, 32, lost his life after being seriously injured while fighting a fire earlier this month. He fell through a collapsing floor during the dangerous rescue and later died from his injuries in the hospital.<\/p>\n

In a statement to People Magazine, the Chicago Fire Department said that the funeral service for firefighter\/EMT Michael Altman, originally planned for Friday morning, March 27, had been rescheduled for a later date.<\/p>\n

\u201cMrs. Altman is in labor,\u201d the department said, referring to the firefighter\u2019s widow, Nora Altman.<\/p>\n

While the family is grieving an unimaginable loss, they are celebrating the welcoming of a new baby into the world. Nora gave birth to a baby girl, Evelyn Rose.<\/p>\n

People across the city have shown their support, honoring Michael\u2019s courage and sacrifice. Many gathered to pay their respects, remembering a man who gave everything to protect others.<\/p>\n

At the same time, authorities say a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the fire that led to his death.
