Vince Vaughn is speaking out about the current state of late-night television, arguing that many shows have become too politically driven and less entertaining.<\/p>\n
During an appearance on Theo Von\u2019s This Past Weekend podcast, the 55-year-old actor said late-night hosts have shifted away from comedy and toward pushing specific viewpoints.<\/p>\n
Referring to late-night figures?
\n\u201cThey never get it right,\u201d Vaughn said. \u201cI think that talk shows, to a large part, became really agenda-based.\u201d<\/p>\n
He continued, \u201cThey were going to [evangelize] people to what they thought. You know what I mean? And so people just rejected it because it didn\u2019t feel authentic. It felt like they had an agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vaughn also argued that this shift has hurt the genre\u2019s appeal, saying shows \u201cstopped being funny\u201d once they leaned too heavily into political commentary.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt started feeling like I was f\u2014king in a class I didn\u2019t want to take,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m getting scolded.\u201d<\/p>\n
While he didn\u2019t directly name anyone, his comments were widely interpreted as referring to late-night figures like Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert, both known for their criticism of Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
The conversation began when Von suggested that late-night shows struggle because they target a narrow audience. Vaughn agreed, saying viewers are turning to podcasts instead because \u201cpeople want authenticity.\u201d<\/p>\n
