President Trump confirmed on Monday that music mogul Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs has requested a pardon on prostitution charges.<\/p>\n
The president confirmed Diddy\u2019s pardon requests when speaking with reporters in the Oval Office about a pardon for Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have a lot of people who have asked me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy, [he] has asked me for a pardon,\u201d the president said.<\/p>\n
The disgraced music mogul was sentenced last week on federal charges of transportation for prostitution. He was previously acquitted on more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and coercing women into unwanted sex.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was essentially I guess sort of half-innocent,\u201d he the president said. \u201cI was very friendly with him. I get along with him great, and seemed like a nice guy, I didn\u2019t know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile. And it\u2019s hard. Like you, we\u2019re human beings and we don\u2019t like to have things cloud our judgment. But when you knew someone and you were fine, and then you run for office and he made some terrible statements.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know. I\u2019m being honest, it makes it more difficult to do,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut more likely a no for Combs?\u201d the reporter asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d say so,\u201d responded Trump.<\/p>\n
Marc Agnifilo, the lead defense attorney for Combs, said the his office has no involvement with asking the president for a pardon.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am not involved in that in the least,\u201d said Agnifilo. \u201cI have literally no idea. There are times I think there\u2019s nothing to it, and there are times I think it\u2019s just rumor mill stuff. But, I do not purport to know the president\u2019s mind.
