Despite being rushed to hospital, she died days later from what doctors called \u201cnon-accidental trauma.\u201d Court documents detail months of horrific punishment: forced exercise routines, brutal beatings, and repeated use of belts. Doctors said Rebekah\u2019s body bore signs of sexual abuse, chunks of missing hair, severe bruising, and possible cigarette burns.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlack and Blue From Head to Toe\u201d. Rebekah\u2019s uncle, Damon Hawkins, described the heartbreaking scene at the hospital. \u201cShe was black and blue from her head to toe\u2026 two black eyes. The system failed her,\u201d he said, revealing that he and his wife had repeatedly reported concerns to child services. The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) confirmed it had received dozens of complaints dating back to 2015. At least once, the children were removed from their father\u2019s home\u2014only to be returned.<\/p>\n

Red Flags That Went Ignored. Teachers noticed injuries and asked questions, but Rebekah and her siblings\u2014ages 8 and 6\u2014covered for their parents. One child told an educator: \u201cMy mom was mad at me and accidentally scratched me. Never mind, she didn\u2019t do that, I just fell.\u201d Prosecutors revealed that Rebekah once jumped out of a second-story window to escape. Her parents later claimed she was only running off to get water and maybe find someone to help.<\/p>\n
