The small Mississippi city of McComb grieves the loss of Sgt. Jason Blake, a respected five-year veteran of the police force. Authorities say Blake d..d in an apparent m\/rder-su\/\/ide while off duty, rushing to help someone in need.<\/p>\n
The sho\/\/ng occurred around 3 p.m. Tuesday inside a home near Mississippi 44 and Cole Thomas Road. McComb Police Chief Earnest Perry explained that Blake often received direct calls for help, even when off duty, and he rarely hesitated to respond.<\/p>\n
According to Pike County Sheriff Wally Jones, the suspect, Clay Paulk, forced his way into the home before sh\/\/ting Blake and Nicki Wilson, a woman with whom Paulk had a prior relationship.<\/p>\n

Wilson survived and was rushed to the hospital, where she is expected to recover fully. Blake and Paulk were pronounced d**d at the scene. Investigators believe Paulk de\u2026 from a self-inflicted g\/nshot wound.<\/p>\n

A Wife\u2019s Emotional Tribute<\/p>\n
Blake\u2019s wife, Rhea, shared a heartfelt message on Facebook. She described a man whose courage and kindness extended well beyond his badge.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy husband was ki.. yesterday helping someone in a domestic vio.. situation,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHe never cared what it looked like as long as he was doing the right thing. He considered it the highest of honors to lay down his life for others.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rhea remembered his softer side \u2014 playing basketball with neighborhood kids, rescuing animals, and fixing strangers\u2019 cars on his days off.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe put everyone above himself,\u201d she said. \u201cHe is one of the best people I\u2019ve ever known. I always knew if he was given the choice, he would die protecting someone. I guess God gave him that choice and honored his wishes, I just wish it wasn\u2019t so soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
A Career Dedicated to Service<\/p>\n
Before joining the McComb Police Department, Blake served 16 years in law enforcement, including time with the Pike County Sheriff\u2019s Office. His dedication earned him respect from colleagues, city officials, and the community.<\/p>\n
Mayor Quordiniah Lockley confirmed the details of the incident and expressed sorrow over the loss. Sheriff Jones offered \u201cdeepest condolences\u201d to Blake\u2019s family, writing, \u201cPlease accept our deepest condolences for the loss of Sergeant Jason Blake.
