\nA former police officer from England killed his Georgia wife after she learned about his affair \u2014 silencing her so she wouldn\u2019t expose his secret about his immigration status.<\/p>\n

Brian McManus, a 57-year-old UK native and former London police officer, was found guilty of the 2023 murder of his wife, 63-year-old Lucille Ann McManus, the Houston County District Attorney\u2019s Office confirmed in a statement on Facebook this week.<\/p>\n

The investigation began on Nov. 24, 2023, when police responding to a report of a suicide in a Warner Robins, Ga., home found Lucille on the bed with an injury to her head, the Warner Robins Police Department said at the time.<\/p>\n

She was naked at the time her body was found, per police, FOX 5 reported.<\/p>\n

Brian, who called 911, told police he found her dead after returning home from a walk with his dog, The Macon Telegraph, FOX 5 and 11 Alive reported.<\/p>\n

However, prosecutors said during his trial that he exhibited no signs of concern for Lucille and became emotional only when he spoke about being the prime suspect, FOX 5 and The Macon Telegraph reported.<\/p>\n

Investigators soon learned that Brian met Lucille on Tinder and the couple married within three months, per the two outlets.<\/p>\n

Several witnesses testified during the trial that the couple married so Brian could get his green card, according to The Macon Telegraph, FOX 5 and 11 Alive.<\/p>\n

Brian was reportedly having an affair with a woman in Florida \u2014 which Lucille learned when he accidentally sent her a message that was meant for his lover, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Lucille threatened to report him for their \u201c\u2019sham\u2019 marriage,\u201d officials said in the statement.<\/p>\n

During the investigation, Brian tried to deflect blame in multiple directions \u2014 suggesting a staged robbery gone wrong, accusing Lucille\u2019s granddaughter and her boyfriend, and claiming his wife died by suicide, FOX 5 reported.<\/p>\n

Brian was a former police officer in London, where he was fired after several women said they were \u201csexually threatened by him,\u201d prosecutors said, per the outlets.<\/p>\n

He was sentenced to life in prison without parole, The Telegraph reported.<\/p>\n
