I know it has been important to all of the affected families. The four friends had planned a fun weekend in Hunt, Texas, before the catastrophic floods hit.<\/p>\n<p>But on July 4, at around 4:30 a.m. local time, Heartfield woke up and discovered water in the house, according to the Times. Heartfield was instructed to get to higher ground when he called his father,<\/p>\n<p>Heartfield then gave the phone to Badon because he said he needed to help his girlfriend. A scream followed, and Badon told Heartfield\u2019s dad to tell her parents she loved them, the Times reported.<\/p>\n<p>Her father, Ty Badon, also recalled the group\u2019s last moments on the phone in an interview with CNN.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-4\"><ins class=\"adsbyadop_d6f93595-b1c2-4e79-824e-211cf3605e7c\"><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been four o\u2019clock yesterday morning that we were told that they were on the phone with Heartfield\u2019s dad, who [owns] the house where they were,\u201d Ty told CNN, noting the house \u201cis no longer there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAidan said, \u2018Hey I\u2019ve got to go, I\u2019ve got to help Ella and Reese \u2026 they just got washed away,\u2019 and then a few seconds later the phone just went dead, and that\u2019s all we know,\u201d the young woman\u2019s father said, recalling Aidan\u2019s last contact with the group.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-5\"><ins class=\"adsbyadop_2a4d5f5b-3f21-458e-8bad-4b5b1c1aa44b\"><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/div>\n<p>On July 7, Ty confirmed to NBC News that his daughter, Joyce, had been found dead. Joyce\u2019s mother, Kellye Badon, also shared a message about their \u201clovely\u201d daughter on her Facebook page. On that same day, Manchaca\u2019s remains were recovered, CBS affiliate KHOU and CBS affiliate KFDM reported. We mourn alongside his family, friends, classmates, and professors, and we extend our deepest condolences to all who are grieving his loss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the weeks ahead, we will share opportunities for our community to gather to remember Aidan,\u201d the school continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we move through this time of loss, the Trinity community will uphold and honor Aidan\u2019s memory. We will also continue to take inspiration from the deep care and love he showed his friends and family,\u201d they concluded.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Heartfield and Cahill, both high school sweethearts, discussed their future wedding while attending the ceremony of Cahill\u2019s sister in Italy in May, according to the Times. The couple wanted to move in together after they graduated from college.<\/p>\n<p>Heartfield also reportedly enjoyed spending weekends near the Guadalupe River, and the four friends grilled together that day.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, July 13, the city of Beaumont held a procession for Heartfield\u2019s body, KBMT reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAidan Heartfield\u2019s journey home to Beaumont is now complete,\u201d Beaumont Police public information officer Haley Morrow wrote in a Sunday Facebook post. \u201cIt was an honor to be part of bringing him back to the city he called home.
