NewsNation host Chris Cuomo shredded New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and predicted that she, and those like her, would bring about the demise of the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n
Cuomo said that Ocasio-Cortez is destroying the party by going all in on impeaching Trump over his Iran strike, even though it led to a ceasefire.<\/p>\n
He warned that Democrats are falling into the same trap they accuse MAGA of, which is embracing fringe extremism.<\/p>\n
AOC, he said, keeps landing on the wrong side of every \u201c80-20\u201d issue, whether it\u2019s defunding the police, cozying up to pro-Hamas rhetoric, or now trying to impeach a president for protecting Americans from radical Islam.<\/p>\n
Ocasio-Cortez also supported New York City Mayoral candidate Zohran\u202fMamdani, a 33\u2011year\u2011old Socialist and New York State Assembly member, who defeated Cuomo\u2019s brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.<\/p>\n
In his screed against Ocasio-Cortez, he mentioned his brother and his dad, the late former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, and said that the fringe Democrats could not hold a candle to him.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow do you keep them from having the nuke? Impeach Trump is the opposite of having a better idea. You\u2019re killing your party,\u201d the NewsNation host said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re killing your party. And look, I hope it works out for you. I hope you guys splinter off and become, you know, whatever you really are, because you\u2019re not a capitalist and you\u2019re not a Democrat,\u201d Cuomo, a former CNN host, said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd, you know, you can say, well, what do you know? I was raised by a real one. I was raised by a real one. Go ahead and criticize Mario Cuomo. What\u2019s going to be your biggest insult? That he spawned me and Andrew? Is that going to be the best you have? Because you ain\u2019t s**t compared to him. Not in terms of intelligence, not in terms of success, not in terms of pedigree, not in terms of philosophy, not in terms of mission, not in terms of eloquence, not in terms of charisma, not in terms of anything, certainly not electability,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou are killing your party because you are not a real one because you\u2019re doing what\u2019s good for you in a vacuum with your little social media following, you know, different than a pod bro, and you\u2019re killing your party. And Democrats better wake the f**k up and realize that you\u2019re better than this. Be with the 80, not the 20,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
And Cuomo was not the only one to take issue with the Democratic Socialist for her plans to impeach the president.<\/p>\n
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), who backed Trump\u2019s bold move to strike Iranian nuclear targets on Sunday, shut down rumors that Democrats would push Republicans to launch new impeachment proceedings.<\/p>\n
The far-fetched effort gained some momentum after Democrat leaders accused President Trump of violating the Constitution by starting a \u201cwar\u201d without congressional approval.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course, no [he should not be impeached],\u201d Fetterman told Fox News.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe knows it. I know it. We all know it\u2026 that is not going anywhere. He has been impeached twice, and now he is still our president as well too, so it is not going anywhere, and I do not think [bringing it up is] helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fetterman\u2019s comments followed AOC\u2019s latest call for impeachment, which would be a historic third attempt, after 14 \u201cbunker buster\u201d bombs hit Iranian nuclear enrichment facilities early Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe President\u2019s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,\u201d the Bronx congresswoman posted online shortly after the strikes were revealed.<\/p>\n
Fetterman also warned that throwing the word \u201cimpeachment\u201d around so casually only cheapens its meaning.<\/p>\n
