Just hours after walking across the stage to receive his high school diploma, Mykale Baker was back at Burger King \u2013 flipping burgers, bagging fries, and helping his team crush the evening rush.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Still wearing his graduation stole and medals, the\u00a0teen<\/a>\u00a0skipped the celebrations and chose hustle over hype, inspiring a stranger to raise more than $230,000 for his future.<\/p>\n

On May 21, Georgia\u2019s Mykale Baker took his mother and grandmother to the Burger King where he\u2019s worked for over a year to celebrate his graduation from Mills Creek High School with a Whopper.<\/p>\n

While many of his pals were partying, the 18-year-old \u2013 who had picked up his diploma hours earlier \u2013 noticed the late-night rush at the fast-food\u00a0restaurant<\/a>\u00a0and quickly jumped over the counter to pitch in.<\/p>\n

With the pride of a freshly minted graduate still glistening on his chest, he pulled up his gloves and got to work, not realizing that his life was about to change forever.<\/p>\n

\u2018Radiating joy\u2019<\/h2>\n

Baker, who was raised by a single mother, grabbed the attention of another mom, who \u2013 after her own daughter\u2019s graduation from a different\u00a0high school\u00a0<\/a>\u2013 was visiting the burger joint for a late-night snack.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was so kind, so polite,\u201d \u00a0Maria Mendoza told\u00a011 Alive<\/a>. \u201cRadiating joy, even after such a big day. His dedication and quiet strength really moved me. I felt called to do something to recognize that.\u201d<\/p>\n
