I clutched the letter, my fingers trembling as my world unraveled in an instant. Thirteen years. Two kids. A life built on what I thought was trust. And now\u2026 this?<\/p>\n
My husband, Daniel, stood frozen in the doorway, his face draining of color. *”Let me explain,”* he whispered.<\/p>\n
I turned, rage and heartbreak colliding inside me. *”Explain? Explain what, Daniel? That you have another woman? That you have a baby on the way?”*<\/p>\n
He took a slow step forward, hands raised in surrender. But then, instead of denial, instead of excuses, he said something that made my blood run cold.<\/p>\n

I blinked. *”What?”*<\/p>\n

I staggered back. In all our years together, he had never mentioned a twin.<\/p>\n
*”Adam died in an accident twelve years ago. But before he passed\u2026 he was in love with a woman. She was pregnant, but she lost the baby in grief after he died. She left town. Disappeared.”* Daniel\u2019s voice wavered. *”She found me last year. She told me she was pregnant again\u2014through IVF, using Adam\u2019s stored DNA. She wanted me to know. She wanted me to be involved. To make sure his child had family.”*<\/p>\n
Tears burned my eyes. *”So you kept it a secret? You let me think you were cheating?!”*<\/p>\n
*”I didn\u2019t know how to tell you,”* he admitted. *”I was afraid you\u2019d leave. That you\u2019d hate me. But I swear, I never betrayed you. This is Adam\u2019s child, not mine.”*<\/p>\n
I looked at the onesie, the letter, my whole world teetering on the edge of something I didn\u2019t know how to process.<\/p>\n
