My husband, Liam, and I had just collapsed onto the bed in our beautiful honeymoon suite. The whirlwind of our wedding day had finally ended, and now it was just **us.**<\/p>\n
The soft glow of candlelight, the faint scent of roses\u2014everything was **perfect.**<\/p>\n

My jaw nearly unhinged. **A vision? A warning?**<\/p>\n
Liam groaned again. \u201cMom, you don\u2019t believe in that psychic nonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her grip tightened. \u201cI do NOW!\u201d<\/p>\n
I stared at her, still half-covered in blankets, my patience dissolving by the second. \u201cMaureen, it\u2019s **our wedding night.** Whatever this is, it can WAIT.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, it CAN\u2019T,\u201d she hissed. Then she turned back to Liam, **her eyes huge.**<\/p>\n

Silence.<\/p>\n
The only sound was the distant hum of traffic outside our hotel window.<\/p>\n
And then, I **burst out laughing.**<\/p>\n
I **couldn\u2019t help it.** It was just **so insane.**<\/p>\n
\u201cMom, I swear to God,\u201d Liam said through gritted teeth. \u201cIf you don\u2019t leave RIGHT NOW\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBut Liam!\u201d she shrieked, eyes full of panic. \u201cIt was so **real.** Right after, you fell **to the floor**\u2014lifeless!\u201d<\/p>\n
She turned to me, pointing a trembling finger. **\u201cAnd YOU just sat there, smiling. Like a BLACK WIDOW!\u201d**<\/p>\n
### **The Exorcism of Maureen**<\/p>\n
I **choked.** \u201cAre you suggesting that if Liam and I\u2026 you know\u2026 he\u2019s going to **DIE?**\u201d<\/p>\n
She **nodded. Gravely.**<\/p>\n
Liam exhaled **so hard I thought he\u2019d pass out.** \u201cMom, get out.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo! I won\u2019t let you risk it! Not tonight!\u201d She turned to me with **full-on, mother-in-law fury.**<\/p>\n
**\u201cRachel, if you truly love my son, you will NOT touch him tonight!\u201d**<\/p>\n
I was **done.**<\/p>\n
\u201cMaureen,\u201d I said sweetly, swinging my legs over the bed. \u201cIf you don\u2019t leave, I will personally **carry you out of this hotel and throw you into the nearest dumpster.**\u201d<\/p>\n
Her mouth opened in outrage, but before she could protest, Liam **leapt out of bed** and grabbed her by the arm.<\/p>\n
He **dragged her toward the door.**<\/p>\n
She **kicked.** She **screamed.** She **clawed at the walls.**<\/p>\n
But Liam was **stronger.**<\/p>\n
**SLAM!**<\/p>\n
The door shut.<\/p>\n
### **Aftermath**<\/p>\n
Liam **locked it. Twice.** Then he turned to me, utterly exhausted.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s insane,\u201d he muttered.<\/p>\n
I sighed. \u201cYeah, but at least now we have a fun honeymoon story.\u201d<\/p>\n
He groaned, rubbing his face. \u201cI can\u2019t believe this.\u201d<\/p>\n
I smirked. \u201cSo\u2026 you still wanna risk it?\u201d<\/p>\n
Liam **snorted.** \u201cIf I go out tonight, at least I\u2019ll die happy.\u201d<\/p>\n
We **both** burst out laughing.<\/p>\n
